Hi! My name is Emily West, and I am your designer!

After a long love of art and the natural world, I wanted to find a career that allowed me to integrate the two together. I studied horticulture throughout high school and upon graduation, I chose the path of a designer.

I studied landscape architecture and landscape contracting at Mississippi State University. I received degrees in both, and after an amazing adventure in Starkville, I started my career in North Carolina. I was a designer at a multi-disciplinary firm, working on large scale commercial projects—religious buildings, subdivisions, along with smaller scale multi-family and utility projects.

When I decided North Carolina wasn’t for me, I came home to Alabama. I was given a wonderful opportunity and joined a firm local to Birmingham. I trained under two incredibly talented landscape architects, working on projects ranging from city parks, playgrounds, community centers, and other civic projects. Though I loved my time in the commercial world, I decided to take a leap and venture out on my own.

I moved into the residential design world with the hopes of helping the average homeowner bring life to their homes through the power of design. My only goal is to create functional and aesthetic designs that allow people to enjoy their greenspaces, while also giving back to the world around them by creating ecologically sound solutions to their everyday problems. .

I love what I do. Our job as landscape design professionals is to provide stewardship to the natural world and the communities that utilize it. I want everyone to have access to environmentally sound design that works for them and allows them to live a healthier, happier life, wherever that may be. You shouldn’t have to be a millionaire to be able to live comfortably in your own yard, and I aim to make that a possibility for as many people as I possibly can.
